It all began in 1990, in a small town in Southeastern Europe, when my father opened a furniture upholstery workshop. I joined him when I was ten. I may not have looked very promising at that age, but I was fascinated by the work and wanted to be at his side.
Every day he taught me the skills of the trade, and more importantly how to be a good person first and a good upholsterer second. He and his friends, who were never really employees because we were one big family, kept giving me small pieces of furniture to work on. My father was always improvising something, just to keep it interesting for me and keep me close.
As the years went by, the wish never faded and the skills kept growing. Through school and university I always found time for the workshop, I trained as a professional upholsterer, and over time I became the person my father relied on for everything in the business.
Then life brought my wife and me to Canada. I started as an upholsterer at a company making luxury leather furniture, where my work was quickly noticed, and a few years later I joined a manufacturer of luxury furniture sold across Canada and the United States.
My wife and I always dreamed of opening our own furniture company. Knowledge and skill alone never make that easy. With the unconditional support and love of my brother, who has always been there for us, we built it together. BOKO Designs was founded by our whole family, and every one of us had a part in it.
All the knowledge and experience gathered over the years, and everything we are still learning today, went into BOKO. We put the product first and work every day to make it better. Thanks to the dedication of everyone who helped build this company, BOKO Designs became a high-end custom furniture company, trusted today by more than 4,000 happy clients across Canada and the United States.
