BOKO Designs in Living Luxe: A Family Workshop Behind Custom Beds in Toronto

Living Luxe shared the story of our family and our custom upholstery in its Summer 2025 Toronto Edition. We are proud to see the people and craftsmanship behind BOKO celebrated in its pages.

A family name, and a shared craft

BOKO began with Danijela Brkovic and Stefan Arsenijevic, who came to Canada from Serbia with years of upholstery experience behind them. Today, our workshop and showroom are in Concord, in Vaughan, Ontario, and we make furniture for customers across Canada. It is a family business in the most practical sense: the people behind the name are part of the work.

That name has a story of its own. Boko is the nickname of Stefan’s younger brother, Bogdan. Having a family name on our furniture feels right to us. It connects each piece to the people who make it and to a craft passed from one generation to the next. You can read more in our About BOKO story.

Beds shaped around the room

Custom beds are at the heart of what we do. Some rooms call for a simple upholstered headboard with soft, rounded edges. Others suit tall panels or a wide backdrop that brings the whole wall into the design. A strong wooden frame sits beneath the upholstery, while the proportions and finishing give each bed its character.

Our completed custom headboards in Toronto show how different those choices can look in a real home. We enjoy that variety: a quiet, understated bedroom deserves just as much care as a room built around a dramatic headboard.

The Living Luxe feature also explored our wall panels, benches, home theatre upholstery, large sofas and chaise seating. Our custom furniture in Toronto service is a place to begin with your own idea. If you already have a bed style in mind, browse the upholstered bed frames in our Shop.

Finding the fabric that feels like home

Fabric is one of the most enjoyable parts of planning an upholstered piece. Its texture changes how a headboard looks up close, how a curve catches the light and how the furniture feels in your room. Seeing samples together makes those choices much easier.

In the Summer 2025 feature, Living Luxe highlighted velvet as a favourite, alongside chenille, bouclé and genuine leather. The article also touched on easier-care velvet and imported fabrics. It described a growing interest in warm beige and cream tones and simpler, clean-lined panels.

We love helping people find their own direction within those choices. Bring a photograph of your room, a colour you keep coming back to or a fabric reference you like. Our fabric FAQ can help you prepare for a visit to see the samples in person.

A craft passed from father to son

Stefan learned the upholstery trade from his father, and he still personally checks the finishing details of our work today. That hands-on care is an important part of BOKO. The frame, the upholstered shape and the final details all deserve attention before a piece leaves the workshop.

Living Luxe also highlighted our lifetime guarantee on wooden structures. We want the furniture we make to be part of your home for years to come. You can find the details in our Warranty terms.

Designers and developers are welcome

We welcome interior designers and developers who are looking for custom upholstered furniture for residential or hospitality spaces. A room plan, material palette or set of references gives us a useful starting point for discussing the piece, its proportions and the details that matter to the project.

Homeowners are just as welcome to start with a few ideas. You do not need to have every decision made. Bring your measurements and inspiration, and we can talk through the possibilities together. Come and meet us

We are grateful to Living Luxe for sharing our family’s story. The best way to get to know our work is to see it up close: the fabric, the upholstery and the details that photographs cannot quite capture.

Book a showroom visit in Concord, by appointment, or send us a Custom Inquiry with your room and ideas. We would love to hear what you have in mind.
