How much does a custom bed cost in Toronto?

A custom bed budget makes more sense when you separate three things: the design you begin with, the choices you make in its configurator, and delivery to your address. Comparing a bare frame price with a complete upholstered bed is rarely useful. Neither is treating a “From” figure as a quote for every fabric, size and footboard.

Alex custom upholstered bed by BOKO Designs

At BOKO Designs, the Shop currently lists 26 beds, with displayed “From” prices ranging from CAD 2,800 for Oslo and Milan to CAD 8,100 for Lola. These prices were checked on 9 October 2026. The collection combines established configurable models with nine newer beds priced from their Queen base configuration. This guide explains which configuration each price represents, what changes the price, and what to confirm before you place an order.

Start with the configuration, not just the model name

Florence, Teddy, Lola, Oslo, Milan, Mila, Capri, Geneva and Luna use Queen base prices in the table below. For the other 17 models, the table retains the Shop’s displayed configured “From” price for the selected King starting configuration shown on each product page. Check that selected size and the other options before comparing it with a Queen-priced model. The product’s calculated Total is the figure to use when comparing options; the final checkout also accounts for delivery and applicable tax.

Where King is available on these new models, it is CAD 700 more than Queen. Teddy and Mila are offered in Queen only. Open the product page to confirm the sizes and colours currently available for the model you choose.

“From” is a helpful starting point for browsing, but it does not promise that every arrangement costs the same. If you prefer another fabric, a different size or a tall footboard, open the product and check its updated Total. Take a screenshot of that configuration if you are discussing it with someone else. A photograph of the bed alone will not record the options that produced your price.

The current 26-bed BOKO collection and its displayed prices

All figures below are in Canadian dollars. “Queen base” identifies the starting Queen configuration of a newer model. “Configured From — King” identifies the price currently displayed in the Shop for an established model’s selected King starting configuration; it should be compared using that same configuration. Check the live product page for the final selected options, delivery and applicable tax before ordering.

What the bed is made from matters

For the established configurable models, BOKO's listed construction includes solid maple in the bed frame and platform, plywood and metal brackets. The headboard combines individually handcrafted upholstered panels with high-resiliency foam, polyester fibre, Trupan MDF, plywood and solid maple. The individual product descriptions set out the materials rather than leaving you to infer them from a styled bedroom photograph.

The platform has an approximately three-inch mattress inset and does not require a box spring. That is useful when planning the bed's overall height, but you should still confirm the mattress dimensions and the selected frame size. A lifetime warranty on the frame is part of BOKO's stated guarantee. It should not be read as a promise that every fabric or every type of wear has identical warranty coverage.

Fabric changes can make a substantial difference

Colour and fabric are separate decisions. You may like an ivory room in a photograph but prefer a different upholstery texture for your own bed. Compare the actual fabric options in the configurator rather than assuming that all pale fabrics are interchangeable in either appearance or price.

On Alex, for example, changing the fabric to Genuine leather adds CAD 1,200 to the otherwise matching default configuration. That is a useful, verified example of why the Total changes. It is not a price rule to apply to every future product or every bespoke request. A colour photograph is also not a substitute for seeing the upholstery: lighting, the screen and the surrounding bedding affect how it reads. Ask the team about the available samples before committing to a fabric you have not seen.

Size, border and footboard choices

The headboard design is usually the first thing you notice, but the frame choices have practical consequences too. A border can give the bed a more defined outline. A taller footboard changes the silhouette at the end of the mattress. Size affects both the price and the amount of floor space left around the bed.

Alex provides two straightforward examples. With the other defaults unchanged, Border Yes adds CAD 350. A Tall footboard adds CAD 650, changing the Total from CAD 3,924 to CAD 4,574. The configurator also follows its existing conditional rules, so some leg choices disappear when that footboard is selected. Do not add a leg charge yourself or assume that every visible choice remains compatible. The configurator is the source for the valid combination and its price.

A bespoke request is different from an online configuration

An online model is a clear starting point: a defined design with available options and a calculated Total. A bespoke request may begin with a wall measurement, an inspiration image or a coordinated bed and upholstered backdrop. Its quote needs to reflect the agreed design, not a price borrowed from the closest-looking product.

For a room-specific request, send the width of the wall, your mattress size and a few photographs showing the space. Include anything that affects access or the bedside arrangement. You do not need to arrive with a finished technical drawing. The point is to give the team enough information to discuss what can be made and to prepare a proposal that matches the room. BOKO's custom furniture process explains design approval, production and installation in more detail.

Delivery and tax belong in the budget

The product Total and the delivered checkout total are different figures. Current delivery bands are CAD 70, 250, 700 and 1,200, depending on the delivery region. These bands should not be reduced to a single “Toronto delivery” promise: the postal address determines the applicable zone. Confirm your address at checkout and read the current Shipping, Returns & Warranty information before ordering.

For a checked Concord example, an Alex at CAD 3,924 plus CAD 70 delivery, with 13% tax on that combined amount, gives CAD 4,513.22. That is an example for that address and selection, not a nationwide tax calculation. An out-of-province address or another configuration should be checked in the actual checkout. Do not work backward from the delivered figure and mistake it for the price of the bed alone.

Allow time for a made-to-order bed

Estimated production time is 4–5 weeks for Shop beds and 6–7 weeks for custom/Bespoke orders after design approval. The design discussion, drawing approval and delivery arrangements are separate stages. If you are coordinating a move or a room renovation, tell the team about the date early rather than assuming the production period begins with your first email.

Avoid making other room decisions around unconfirmed measurements. Check the bed's width and length, the headboard height and the space available to open doors or move beside it. A wide headboard can change how bedside furniture sits, even when the mattress size stays the same. For dimensions that are not listed, use the inquiry form rather than substituting measurements from a different model.

How to compare two designs fairly

Choose the same size, fabric, colour and footboard on both products before comparing their Totals. Then ask whether the difference you see is actually useful in your room. A simple panel design may be the right choice beside a patterned wall; a chevron or fan design may let the bed carry the visual detail while the rest of the room stays quiet.

Look at completed rooms as well as product photographs. Our Projects shows how upholstery, headboard proportions and surrounding furniture work together. Those photographs are inspiration, not a guarantee that every room can be reproduced for a listed model's starting price. Keep the room's needs and the exact quoted design separate from the image you first saved.

Bring one clear question to the conversation

You can begin with a budget, a design or a room problem. “I like Alex, but need to confirm the wall width” is more useful than collecting several unrelated estimates. So is “I want a calmer headboard, with this fabric and this mattress.” The team can then distinguish what is available in the online configurator from what needs a bespoke quote.

Browse the 26-bed Shop for a priced starting point, or send your room details through Custom Inquiry. Showroom visits in Concord are by appointment. Before ordering, confirm the configuration, delivery address, dimensions and current terms; a clear plan is a better safeguard than treating the lowest advertised number as the whole budget.
